QUILLING

Quilling or Paper Filigree is an art form that uses strips of paper which are rolled, shaped, and together to make pleasing to the eye designs. The strips of paper can be rolled, looped, curled, twisted and can be mostly given any shape according to your imagination that create shapes which decorate greetings cards, pictures, boxes, frames and make wall decors. This idea can also be used to make models, jewelry, candle holders etc. These items can all be used as gifts which many people would very much appreciate. Quilling starts with rolling a strip of paper into a coil and then pinching the coil into shapes that can be glued together. There are many tools, techniques and different sized paper that can create 3D miniatures, quilled flower vases and quilled flowers among many things.

Quilling is easy to learn compared to most other crafts, and with the resources available today, it can be learned by almost everyone. There is no age restriction to get hold the technique. Basic quilling techniques can be learnt from videos available online and also through the book available in quilling.

Tweezers

Tweezers are used to handle delicate coils to prevent damaging and separating.

Needle Tool

The Needle Tool plays a supporting role in the craft. It is used primarily to apply glue to hard-to-reach areas of the coil or quilling design.

Slotted Tool

The slotted tool is the most important quilling tool as it makes curling coils much easier and faster

Circle Sizer Ruler

The Circle Sizer Ruler is important in creating coils into a desired size after curling. The ruler on the side is used to measure each strip to make sure they are the same length before curling.

Scissors and Glue

There are also other tools like Quilling Coach, Mould, Crimper, Fringer, Border buddy, Quilling Comb, Quilling Board which make quilling easier and help to make different shapes.
