3D FLOWER POT
After seeing the fringed flowers, I always wanted to try them. But I didn’t have the paper fringer. So I was checking through the tutorials available online and also went through some books to find that fringer can also be done with scissors. So I tried them in tissue paper and it turned out to be good. That’s the reason I am posting it here.
Materials needed:
Tissue paper (violet, white and green)
Tooth picks – 3
Glue.
Paper strip ( to make the pot and base).
The violet, white and green paper were fringed ( Cut the edge of the paper horizontally like 1 inch long. Then keep cutting the paper same way, over and over. The edge of your paper will look almost striped with cuts). Violet and White paper are then attached to a yellow strip (this makes the center of the flower) and where rolled with slotted tool. The green paper is glued to tooth picks to make the stem. The flowers are then attached to tooth picks using glue.Finally we make the pots. They are made by rolling 9 3 mm strips of different colors( or single color) and giving them a pot shape using hand (can use the mould too).

My First Work
This is my first experience with quilling. It was not that easy to roll and shape the papers at first but I made it.
I made this red flower first with a yellow center using a 3mm strip. Then the other flowers rose and violet using 3mm strips. Attached them using green strip to give leaves and stem.
I felt so good after doing this. Of course it is not a great piece of art but i got some satisfaction from my soul. This work took around three hours for me to finish because I was a beginner. This is a simple piece.
I got to know about quilling from some Facebook and Pin interest post. Once I got the interest in quilling, I wanted to obtain the materials and get started. It was very difficult for me to find the quilling materials in stores near my residence. In fact, I didn’t find any store that sell at least the quilling paper. Then I went online and purchased the beginners kit from amazon.com. I was so excited to get it in my hand so I could get start my experiments.
The kit came with Needle Tool, Slotted Tool, Circle Size Ruler, Tweezers, Beginners Guide, Glue, Paper Strips (1 Packet), Envelopes and Greeting Card (You can work on them.)
There are also many online sellers who sell quilling supplies.
Quilling comes with experience. I mean never expect your shapes to be perfect in the first go. It takes some time for your finger to get the art. Be patient. It can be done by anyone and is so interesting.

Quilling is easy to learn compared to most other crafts, and with the resources available today, it can be learned by almost everyone. There is no age restriction to get hold the technique. Basic quilling techniques can be learnt from videos available online and also through the book available in quilling.
